SURFTIME INSPIRATION # 141

Human Nature, Self-Destruction and Collective Responsibility Thinkers have long reflected on humanity’s struggle against itself, knowing that our conflict with nature is a war against ourselves. Forget about saving the world, it has always been able to do that itself. It just needs a break from us humans. And the way things are going, it’s going to get it. These reflections emphasize that environmental destruction mirrors our pitiful internal human condition. That avarice and vicious economics alone will destroy our chance to save ourselves. And that the ultimate danger in today’s internet-obsessed, self-serving world is the assumption that someone else will intervene. Nature doesn’t need us… we do.

My God, what have we done?
